It began with an innate curiosity. What began as two guys, with pen and camera in tow, interviewing witnesses along Little India about the December 8 riot has now taken the form of a book, Riot Recollections.
This book is our humble way of paying homage to the many people who have supported us since the beginning. The trust and confidence that was placed in our work and artistic direction saw us through both the good times and bad.
For this, we are ever grateful.
The 30 people featured in this book have a special place in our hearts too.
At a time when tensions were high and emotions were raw, they let us into their hearts and minds without inhibitions. We asked, and we were given. As peace begets peace, their willingness to open up to us are a testament to the infallible human spirit.
One such story is that of chef Ravindra Rawath, who was part of a group shielding batches of families to the nearest safe zone despite the ensuing ruckus and violence of the riot around him.
When asked why he placed the safety of others before his own, he simply replied: “Certain things you don’t think, you just do.”
To hear more about the witness accounts and to support our work, please join us at our book launch.
Looking forward to meeting you there.
